Jumping Frog

 

Description:

red metal frog. The frog has a spring action flipper beneath held in place by a lump of tar attached to the underside of the frog to give it a delayed spring.

The Jumping Frog is 5.4 inches in length

Often confused with the free gift frog from The Hotspur #1 free gift frog from the late 1950s.

 

Key Differences:

Original Dandy #2 frog has more of a hexagon shaped head where as the Hotspur has more of a rounded head.

 

The Dandy Frog has a humped-rounded back, The Hotspur Frog has a flat back

 

The Dandy Frog has bunched fist like hands, the Hotspur Frog has spread out webbed fingers

 

The Hotspur frog has a clear dented butt crack, the Dandy frog has a light imprint of a tail and usually a spilt to the metal at the rear rather than an impact for a butt crack

 

The flipper to the Hotspur Frog the words 'Empire Made' Stamped onto the underside flipper. This is not present on the flipper of the Dandy Frog. 'Empire Made' was often stamped onto toys from the mid 1950s to the early 1960s.
