The Playbox (1925 series)
The Playbox series has been running since 1898. These early editions are merely an A5 sized black & white centrepage magazine insert to publications such as, 'World & His Wife', 'Home Chat' & 'Children's Encyclopedia'.
It was not until the 1925 series that the comic developed into a tabloid sized coloured comic with stuning artwork, eventually reducing to a smaller size on (4th Nov 1939), assumed due to the war effort.
This series started with issue #1 in (14th Feb 1925) and ran until (11th June 1955) giving an impressive 1279 issues. It was to merge with Jack & Jill comic after this.
