The Uncle Oojah or Oojah annuals


Uncle Oojah also originally know as Flip-Flip The Great Oojah was a friendy elephant who first appeared in The Daily Sketch newspaper in 18th Feb 1919. He become popular so a four page supplement called, 'The Oojah Paper' was published in the 1920s starting on Saturday 8th October 1921. This later became The Oojah Sketch which ran until 23rd Nov 1929.

This four page supplement was reduced to three pages on 29th April 1922 and reduced further to two pages from 22nd July 1922. These supplements run through to the 1930s and are hard to find.

A number of annuals ran from 1921 through to 1951. Some war time annuals where undated.

He also made appearences in various annuals and storybooks.
